The Woodie Flowers Award
Dean's List Award
Digital Media Award
Entrepreneurship Award
- The FIRST Impact Award (formerly the Chairman's Award) is the most prestigious award at FIRST, it honors the team that best represents a model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the mission of FIRST. It was created to keep the central focus of FIRST Robotics Competition on the ultimate goal of transforming the culture in ways that will inspire greater levels of respect and honor for science and technology, as well as encouraging more of today’s youth to become science and technology leaders.
The Woodie Flowers Award
- At every competition, the Woodie Flowers Award is given to "mentors who lead, inspire and empower" their teams and who previous WFA winners deem are worthy to hold the title of 'Excellent FIRST Mentor." The award winner is chosen based upon an essay submitted by students on the team. In 2013, the BoxerBots will be nominating Mr. Aaron Cosgray for his outstanding contributions to the team over his 5 years as a mentor as well as his incredible insights and patience. We would like to thank Mr. Cosgray for his ongoing support of Team 1828.
Dean's List Award
- The Dean's List recognizes "outstanding student leaders whose passion for and effectiveness at attaining FIRST ideals is exemplary." Nominations for this award are submitted by mentors for those students who step up for the team...and deliver.
Digital Media Award
- This award is new in 2013, replacing the "Website Award." FIRST encourages teams to use technological communication to spread the word of themselves and of FIRST. For this new award, the Boxebots have a Youtube channel, a Twitter account, and a Facebook page that reaches upwards of 200 people!
Entrepreneurship Award
- The FIRST Entrepreneurship Award is submitted as a business plan describing the team. It recognizes teams that have "developed a comprehensive business plan in order to define, manage and achieve team objectives." The BoxerBots submission describes team operations, systems, and history in order to provide a snapshot of team functions.
